When running your business, you should think in terms of systems. Automated systems, more specifically. The more you can automate and delegate, the more you can do what you like to do and are good at. It’s probably what is also bringing in the most revenue for you too.
When you’re an entrepreneur, hell even if you’re just a really busy and overworked employee, you can really benefit from automating as much as you possibly can. My favorite investing book is The Automatic Millionaire by David Bach.
In the book, Bach talks about how an average couple with an average income teaches him about how to automate their savings and investments so that it is guaranteed to be done. What’s more is that they didn’t have to stress and worry or have to remember to do those things. Saving became a percentage skimmed off the top of their paychecks. They never even missed it.
These are not only good saving and investing strategies, but for entrepreneurs who sometimes have to literally do it all, it can be a valuable strategy to automate everything in your business that you can. Wouldn’t it be great to know that your systems are at work preferably bringing in revenue while you are doing what you do best? You don’t need a machine or fancy software to accomplish this. Sometimes it comes in the form of delegation. If it weren’t for my personal assistant, Indra, I’d be spending significant amounts of time, energy, and money worrying about my money. Instead she takes care of most of my administrative tasks so I can be out there seeing my clients, getting them good results, and selling more clients on our services for our other trainers. The more time I can spend marketing and selling our service and the less time I have my nosed pressed in a checkbook or spreadsheet or something, the more revenue we can bring in.
Look for ways to delegate or automate your business. Systems should be put in place to make your operations efficient. Document everything as you go. When it comes time for you to sell your business, it will be more attractive to a buyer as you have everything documented for them. Think of it as a cookbook with recipes that anyone can pick up and replicate without you being there.
